JDM HAWAII BROKER SERVICE

The JDM Hawaii brokerage service procedure is as follows: We will bid on or locate a vehicle in Japan for the customer. Once the vehicle is confirmed to be available, the customer is required to deposit 50% of the CIF (Cost, Insurance, Freight) amount. The remaining balance will be due in 7 days. Upon the vehicle's arrival, customs duty will be assessed by our customs broker and passed onto the customer. While the exact duty is unknown until the vehicle arrives, it is typically around 7% of the vehicle's cost. (Vans and non-categorized commercial labeled vehicles) & (29% for trucks)

In addition, JDM Hawaii charges a $2,500 brokerage fee for facilitating the entire process. This fee includes picking up the vehicle from the port, performing a mechanical inspection, detailing, processing export documents, converting the title to a Hawaii title, and arranging shipping to outer islands if needed.
The inspection process for vehicles imported to Hawaii through JDM Hawaii is a thorough and essential step to ensure that the vehicle meets local regulations and is in good working condition before it is handed over to the customer. Here's a detailed breakdown of the process:

* 1. Mechanical Inspection:
- Comprehensive Check: Once the vehicle arrives in Hawaii, it undergoes a complete
mechanical inspection by certified technicians. This check includes assessing the engine, transmission, suspension, brakes, and other critical components to ensure everything is functioning properly.

- Safety Compliance: The vehicle is inspected for safety compliance with Hawaii’s regulations, including checking the condition of lights, tires, brakes, and other safety features to meet state requirements.

- Fluid Levels and Filters: The inspection also includes checking and replacing fluid levels (engine oil, transmission fluid, brake fluid) and filters (oil, air) as needed to ensure the vehicle is road-ready.

 * 2. Emissions and Environmental Standards:
- In some cases, especially with older Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) vehicles,
emissions systems may need to be evaluated to ensure they meet Hawaii’s environmental standards. Any necessary adjustments or repairs will be made to bring the vehicle into compliance.

* 3. Documentation Review:
- The vehicle’s documents, including its auction sheet, service history (if available), and
import/export paperwork, are reviewed during the inspection to verify its history, mileage, and legal status.

* 4. Exterior and Interior Inspection:
- Exterior Condition: A detailed examination of the vehicle’s exterior for rust, body
damage, or other cosmetic issues is performed. Any necessary repairs or restorations can be made to ensure the vehicle is in top condition.

- Interior Condition: The interior, including seats, dashboard, electronics, and air conditioning systems, is thoroughly checked and cleaned as part of the inspection and detailing process.

* 5. Test Drive:
- After the mechanical and safety inspections, the vehicle undergoes a test drive to
assess its overall performance, handling, and drivability. Any irregularities or issues that arise during the test drive are addressed before the vehicle is released to the customer.

* 6. Final Detailing:
- Once the vehicle passes all inspections and tests, it receives a full detailing service,
ensuring it is clean and presentable for delivery.

* 7. Title Conversion and Documentation:
- After passing the inspection process, the vehicle’s documentation is processed for
conversion to a Hawaii title. This includes ensuring that all legal requirements for importation are fulfilled and that the customer receives a valid Hawaii title and registration for their vehicle.

By going through this rigorous inspection process, JDM Hawaii ensures that all imported vehicles are safe, compliant, and fully functional, giving customers peace of mind and confidence in their purchase.
